On the afternoon of November 26, the special lecture "Two-Way Empowerment Between University Research Topics and Competition Topics," hosted by the Experimental Teaching and Innovation Center of the Highway College of Chang’an University, was held in Classroom WH1103 at the Weishui Campus. The event attracted nearly one hundred teachers and students, creating a lively atmosphere with frequent interactions, and provided a platform for integrating scientific research and competition development.
The lecture focused on "Core Methods and Preparation Guidelines for Teachers and Students Preparing for Competitions," divided into two main sections for teachers and students respectively. In the teachers' section, the speaker systematically explained the "condensation logic" of research topics and competition topics, sharing how to extract topics with both academic value and competition relevance from existing research projects. Through typical case studies, the speaker illustrated the transformation path from "research topics to competition topics." In the students' section, the lecture covered the value of participating in competitions, essential qualities, and full-process preparation, helping students clarify their competition strategies and enhance their overall competitiveness.
The lecture was delivered by Ye Xiaoyun, Chairman of the Qingchuang Huizhi Innovation and Entrepreneurship Research Institute. As a China Youth Entrepreneurship Mentor, a member of the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission’s expert database, and an expert in the Shanghai Technology Exchange’s think tank, Ye Xiaoyun shared the deep integration path of scientific research achievements and competition topics based on years of experience mentoring competitions such as the "Internet Plus" and "Big and Small Challenges." Both teachers and students expressed that they benefited greatly from the session.
During the Q&A session, participants actively raised questions and engaged in in-depth discussions with Ye on topics such as topic selection challenges, team building, and project implementation. Everyone agreed that the lecture was practical and offered a unique perspective, effectively inspiring new ideas on how scientific research can feed into competitions and how competitions can drive innovation.
This event is one of the important initiatives of the Highway College to promote the deep integration of innovation and entrepreneurship education with research practice. Moving forward, the college will continue to build such high-level exchange platforms to help teachers and students achieve two-way empowerment and synergistic development in scientific research and competitions.
